This unusual onyx column is raised by a square base with a stepped design and fitted wrap around ormolu band.

The circular central support features a majestic and highly decorative scrolling dragon in the manner of Eugène Cornu.   

The whole is topped by a beautiful capital of scrolls, foliate and rosettes in the Corinthian style, all below the thick square onyx swivel top with cut corners.
