An outstanding and extremely elegant pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. mahogany marquetry and parquetry ormolu mounted meuble d’appui.

Each meuble d’appuie is raised on tapered feet with gilt bronze mounts.
The bottom apron is bordered with a reeded ormolu trim.

The doors with a guilt bronze keyhole escutcheon are mounted by richly chased ormolu swagging floral garlands, and decorated with beautiful and wonderfully executed inlaid marquetry with floral details and tied ribbons, framed by an elegant dart ormolu border.

The side panels display a lovely inlaid diamond parquetry design.

Intricately detailed pierced gilt bronze bands extend along the tops and display beautiful scrolled foliate rinceaux designs with fine leaves, grape clusters and centered by charming Bacchanalian cherubs.

Above is the original white Carrara marble top with cut corners and fine molted borders.
