The base are adorned with striking richly chased ormolu mounts of lovely rosettes and most impressive central mask of a bearded man amidst large acanthus leaves, all set on ebony background with fine brass filets above four remarkable ormolu feet.

The stunning doors decorated with a finely detailed central reserve of semi-precious stones and marble, depicting a bouquet of flowers surrounded by four charming scenes of birds amidst berries, flowers and foliate in addition to the most decorative ormolu mounts of bearded men.

Each side panel displays an intricately detailed central ormolu mount of a cherub representing the allegory of music for one and science for the other, with seashell palmette reserves at each corner.

Three richly chased foliate bands extend along the mottled top crown all below the original black Belgian
marble top.
