AN ITALIAN 19TH CENTURY WHITE CARRARA MARBLE STATUE, SIGNED O. ANDREONI ROMA.

The Statue is raised by a circular base with a ground like design where the beautiful Neapolitan maiden is standing.

She is draped in a wonderfully executed robe with intricately detailed dentil designs and is wearing an elegant corset.

She is holding a finely sculpted tambourin above her shoulder  

Based in Rome Andreoni sent his work for exhibitions as far as Glasgow (1888) and Berlin (1892).

The exposure established his international reputation

Andreoni specialized in historical and biblical subjects.

His expertise with the chisel is evident here in the virtuoso handling of clothing, hair and jewelry delighting in the richness of detail.
